Ode to the Delphi

on

Shimmer, shimmer

Swimming molten glass;

Light is broken; a ribbon of brass.

Reflections shatter in a ripple;

And, fishes hide in the river of grass.

Glisten glisten

Soft and supple skin;

Eyes that know with a permanent grin;

Break the waves and spray the clouds singing;

While tumbling out in a perfect spin.

Splash, splash

And, the vision has ended;

The purse is closed; the nets are mended;

The song becomes a desperate plea;

For life cut shorter than Death intended.
