Hush

Winter, frozen, trees adreaming;

Crackling ice; the windows steaming;

Burning logs that warm the soul;

Late at night, the wind is screaming.

Life in limbo; patience teeming;

Held in check by icemares gleaming.

Drifts of snow that hush the stroll,

Hide the hare, keep foxes scheming.

My heart is frozen; eyes are dreaming;

Searing pain, my anger steaming.

Acid thoughts that burn the soul,

Through the walk I seek redeeming.

Life is hell, frustrations teeming;

Held in check by tears agleaming;

Hopes lay crushed beneath the stroll,

Hide the fears; keep reason streaming.
