Too Many

on

Too many rivers carry death and spoors,

Too many life forms mating

Mating to their own defeat.

Too many frozen in tenement doors,

Too many babies waiting

Waiting on a grain of wheat.

Too many towns boasting boarded up stores,

Too many folks debating

Whether it’ll be snow or sleet.

As hurricanes blow,

And the deserts grow,

Don’t blame your morals,

Don’t stone the crow.

There’s just too many,

There’s just too many

Of us…

Too many Gods preaching too many scores,

Too many need updating

Updating the Trick or Treat.

Too many little girls grow to be whores,

Too many grow up hating,

Hating men on city streets.

Too many murdered on faraway shores,

Too many felons skating

Skating off and packing heat.

As your sons fall in wars,

Or, cry behind bars,

Don’t blame your choices.

Don’t curse the stars.

There’s just too many.

There’s just too many

Of us…
